This presentation, “A Functional Approach to the Assessment and Treatment of Lower Extremity,” focuses on identifying and treating common hip, knee, and ankle dysfunctions through a functional approach. It reviews patient assessment, including history, orthopedic and neurological testing, posture, gait, range of motion, movement assessment, and muscle testing. Treatment follows the RAILS(S) approach Release/Reset/Reposition, Activate/Adjust, Integrate, Load, Support, and Stabilize and incorporates techniques such as muscle activation, strengthening exercises, progressive loading, stabilization, and kinesiology taping to improve movement, reduce pain, and restore function. 3 CEs- In-person only.
