Description

2 distance learning CEUs.

This presentation offers chiropractors an in-depth overview of CBD and its integration into chiropractic care. The first hour explores the history and political landscape surrounding cannabis and hemp, including the significant legislative events that have shaped current medical use. A key highlight is the story of Charlotte Figi, whose epilepsy treatment with CBD helped catalyze the modern CBD movement. The session also covers the educational gap in cannabinoid therapeutics and explains the importance of the Farm Bill, which has made hemp-derived CBD products more accessible. Participants will learn about the various types of cannabis plants, cannabinoids, and how different forms of CBD—such as isolate, broad-spectrum, and full-spectrum—impact therapeutic use.

In the second hour, the focus shifts to ethical and legal considerations in recommending CBD to patients. Chiropractors will gain insight into navigating legal boundaries, understanding their scope of practice, and recognizing potential misuse of CBD, particularly with emerging products like Delta-8 and Delta-9. The session concludes by addressing how to effectively integrate CBD into chiropractic practice, including essential considerations for product selection, marketing, and ensuring product quality through proper labeling and evaluation. This presentation equips chiropractors with the building blocks to safely and ethically incorporate CBD into their patient care.
