In this presentation, ANJC Consultant, David Klein, a certified medical coder, auditor and compliance consultant will provide in-depth instruction on how to properly discount and collect reimbursement from patients for maximum and correct reimbursement. He will discuss the different types of discounts including prompt pay, discount medical plans and hardship discounts for both covered and non-covered services. He will provide in-depth examples and OIG compliance guidance and review prepay plans. He will show attendees how to properly discuss patient payments using tactics that reflect compliance and the treatment being prescribed. He will also discuss how fees are calculated using Medicare as a guideline.

David Klein, CPC, CPMA, CHC, is the ANJC’s coding and compliance consultant. He is the co-founder of PayDC, a web-based Electronic Health Records Practice Management system that focuses on compliance and reimbursement. He is a certified professional coder through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and is certified in healthcare compliance through the Health Care Compliance Board (HCCB). He is also the Founder and President of DK Coding & Compliance, Inc. a health care consulting firm that focuses on audit defense, education, compliance and reimbursement issues.
